Position Summary & Scope:
The position holder is a direct report to the Director Global Core Manufacturing Engineering Airbags and is entrusted with elaborating manufacturing standards and manufacturing concepts in the area of responsibility Seat Belt Retractor.
Responsibilities:
- Drive, support and define the automation of manufacturing of JSS and its business units and processes globally.
- Align manufacturing concepts to define global standards, building on best in class production methods and know-how from the regions/ divisions.
- Contribute your motivation and creativity to build up the new global department “Global Core Manufacturing Engineering”

What you can change — your duties
- Definition of Process Standards, Key Technologies and Manufacturing / Equipment Concepts and Standards
- Future Manufacturing Concepts
- Global Coordination (consideration of ALL customers and regions!)
- Define standard manufacturing process, derive standard equipment / technology with consideration of different requirements (e.g. due to wage level, volume)
- Define standard process and equipment matrix (i.e. table with process steps, corresponding key items to be ensured, selectable variants of equipment to fulfill requirements (e.g. by level of automation: manual, semi-automatic, highly automated))
- Coordinate global experts in manufacturing engineering regarding standardization and modularization of manufacturing processes and equipment in area of responsibility
- Analyze and propose potentials for automation and standardization in manufacturing processes, including evaluation of useful and efficient automation considering different requirements in the business units and regions
- Identify key processes, compare existing approaches and make proposals for improvements, standardization and automation
- Analyze and propose process improvements (assembly concepts, best practice sharing)
- Analyze potential production methods and concepts (line concepts, assembly concepts, robots), including considerations on flexibility (“lot size 1”) and modularization (also: reusability) of equipment
- Recommend and develop process and technology roadmaps together with operational units
- Prepare and recommend implementation plans considering given resource constraints
- Drive and support general standards in production processes
- Foster and enable global information exchange and benchmarking regarding manufacturing technologies and processes
- Optimize operations within the field, unite diverse agendas to common goal, and harness strategic and operational drivers to deliver results
- Align initiatives across regions and divisions
- Evaluate and prioritize Core Manufacturing projects according to the defined requirements
- Align and exchange with and give input to the Advanced Manufacturing team regarding future manufacturing concepts and technologies
- Align, exchange, support and closely work with Core Product Engineering
- Conduct workshops and process analysis in our manufacturing sites with the target of “demand analysis”
- Manage special projects in the area of Core Manufacturing Engineering (incl. analysis and benchmarking on material flow, automation, robotics, systems)
- Prepare cost and resource estimates, project schedules, reports and presentations

Impress us – your qualifications
- College/university degree in engineering, robotics, computer science, physics or similar
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing technologies, robotics
- Multi-cultural and/or global experience or openness
- Strategic thinker but with an execution bias
- Deemed as transformational and/or a change agent
- Strong persuasion skills
- Comfortable with functioning in a global matrix operating environment
- Significant experience both with the specific product in area of responsibility as well as within the company
- Business fluent in English, any other language is a plus (especially Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, German, Romanian, Portuguese)
